West Penwith

Rambles List

Whilst we have an interest in everything we come across it is probably true to say that we often focus on things archaeological or to do with mining. CTH has long advocated a residential trip to West Cornwall where there is a fine selection of such sites to be seen.

Last June having ensured his carer was out of the country CTH immediately sped off to the Cornish nether regions and the pictures below are the result.

Ballowall Barrow
South Wheal Frances - a superb set of huge mining buildings
Wheal Basset - Another excellent group of mines on the south flank of Carn Brea
Trewavas Head and Rinsey Croft. Excellent walk with good mine buildings and some interesting geology.
The fogou at Carn Euny. Check that you are outside before standing up straight.
One of the courtyard houses at Carn Euny
Wheal Edward
Wheal Owles
Wheal Cock. Shaft on the cliff edge. I watched two Choughs here.
Holed stone on Zennor Hill
Grylls Bunny
Zennor Quoit
Bosilliac - Well preserved Cist with retaining kerb
Boskednan Circle
Cot Valley
Ding Dong Mine

This one is for JS
